Hands-On Eating!

Desmond has been enjoying getting more involved with his meals.  He likes to “help” get the spoon to his mouth, and he’s persistent about getting his hands into the bowl.  I like him to be able to learn and discover even during meal time so I finally got full coverage bibs with sleeves from IKEA.  They are great!  Tonight he was tired and ended up rubbing peas all over his face.  Let’s just say clean up takes a little longer, and soon we’ll have to wash his hair after meals.

New things for our little 8 month old this week: cutting his top left tooth, eating Cheerios, dancing to the cell phone ring, rolling a ball back and forth, and giving five.  It’s been a busy week!

29 and First Tooth

I turned 29 yesterday!  It’s strange being in the final year of the 20’s.  For some reason 30 just seems so much older than 20-something.  I had a great day with my family, and Davin made a scrumptious salmon feast for all of us.  Desmond was the star of the show as usual which I don’t mind.  He’s just an irresistible cutie!

Today was another milestone for us… Desmond cut his first tooth!  The lower left tooth has the honor of being first, and five others are not far behind.  I’ve been saying he’s teething for the last 4 months (half of his lifetime!) so it’s nice to finally have some proof.

Seven Months Old

IMG_3470

I haven’t been able to get many pictures lately because our camera is dying.  Bummer!  But here’s a cute shot of Desmond the other day.  He loves to practice using those strong little legs.

He’s growing up so fast!  Sometimes I want to freeze time so I have a chance to drink it all in.  Some of the cute things he’s doing lately:

  • Playing with his blinking
  • Getting excited and wanting to touch the rose wreath every time we walk up to the front door
  • Sucking the water out of his washcloth
  • Refusing his bottle because he wants the banana (or whatever else) Mommy’s eating
  • Lifting his arms when we’re about to pick him up
